Mauritius tops African governance list for 8th consecutive year

Mauritius has been ranked first in the Ibrahim Index of African Governance (IIAG) 2014 for the eighth consecutive year. Among the 52 countries rated by the Foundation, Mauritius scored the highest overall mark of 81.7 points. Cabo Verde was second with 76.6 points, with the average score for the continent being 51.5 points. 

BOI signs an MOU with the CADF-SA

A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the Board of Investment and the China-Africa Development Fund during an official ceremony on Wednesday 24th September 2014.

The objective of the MOU is to promote a diversified production base, economic growth and development in Africa.

Mauritius, the most peaceful country in Africa

The 2014 Global Peace Index which is published by the Institute of Economics and Peace ranks Mauritius as the most peaceful country in Africa and 24th globally.  This is the eighth edition of the Global Peace Index (GPI). The index assesses and ranks nations according to their level of peace. It comprises 22 qualitative and quantitative indicators from highly respected sources and ranks 162 independent states, covering 99.6% of the world’s population. The index gauges global peace using three broad themes: the level of safety and security in society; the extent of domestic or international conflict; and the degree of militarization.
