Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Mauritius & China in a bid to enhance bilateral relations
To further consolidate economic and bilateral ties with the People`s Republic of China, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and the Board of Investment (BOI) on 16th May 2017 in Beijing.
The objective of the MoU is to:
- Promote exchanges in the fields of investment, trade and technology
- Assist in identifying business partners while extending collaboration in various sectors of the economy
- Identify areas of comparative advantage and competence for mutual development.
China is an important component of the FDI market and it contributed MUR 2.4 billion in the economy in 2016. This represents 17.9% of total FDI for Mauritius.
