Consolidation of business ties between Mauritius and Switzerland
The Board of Investment hosted a Business Meet for a delegation of Swiss private companies based in South Africa. The delegation of 19 was headed by Her Excellency Mrs. Helene Budliger Artieda, Ambassador of Switzerland to Mauritius. Her Excellency Mrs. Helene Budliger Artieda is on her second visit to Mauritius in a span of 3 months.
Last August, Mauritius and Switzerland signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of a Foreign Office Consultation Mechanism. The MoU aims at strengthening the political, economic and cultural ties between the two countries in line with the activities organised in the context of the Swiss Week launched on 4th August 2017.
In his welcoming address, Mr. Ken Poonoosamy, Managing Director of the Board of Investment, reiterated his appreciation to the Ambassador and the delegation for choosing Mauritius for their business visit. Mr. Poonoosamy also took the delegation through a comprehensive presentation of investment opportunities in Mauritius and, subsequently, replied to the delegation’s questions pertaining to investing in Mauritius.
In her address, Her Excellency Mrs. Helene Budliger Artieda was thankful to BOI for the organization of the meeting. Her Excellency extended her appreciation for all assistance given to the members of the delegation.
The closing remarks were made by Mrs. Usha Dwarka-Canabady, Secretary to Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration & International Trade.
Following the Business Meet, the delegation concluded the day with guided site visits to targeted companies.
