BOI hosts a workshop with a delegation from Estonia with view to facilitating the setting up of a Digital Platform
A high-level delegation from Estonia led by Ms. Hele Karilaid, Director of economic diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, is currently in Mauritius to provide assistance to the Government with respect to the setting up of a state-of-the-art digital platform to facilitate interconnectivity between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its overseas missions.
The objective of the platform is to enhance access to information by officers in the course of their work. Accordingly, a Government-to-Government Agreement in the field of Information Technology was signed with the Republic of Estonia. A Transformation Implementation Committee has also been constituted to take forward the Mauritian Economic Diplomacy Project as recommended by Beasley Intercultural, an Australian Consultancy Firm.
To this end, a half-day workshop was organised at the Board of Investment on Thursday 12th October 2017 to outline the economic landscape of Mauritius, including Ease of Doing Business in the country and the numerous reforms implemented. During the workshop, BOI provided an overview of the growth sectors of the economy, including the recently introduced Regulatory Sandbox License and the Africa Strategy.
BOI and the Estonian delegation also brainstormed on joint venture initiatives for greater collaboration between Mauritius and Estonia.
