A delegation from Harvard Kennedy School visits the Board of Investment
The Board of Investment welcomed a 25-member strong delegation from the Harvard Kennedy School Alumni Association (HKSAA) MPA on Friday 18th August 2017. The delegation comprised high-level government advisors, team leaders from the World Bank and CEOs of reputed businesses from across several countries including Canada, Austria, Italy, China, India, Argentina, El Salvador, USA, Israel, Germany, Zambia, Australia, Brazil, South Africa amongst others. The main objective of this tour was to learn about Mauritius, share and impart knowledge, establish and consolidate ties as well as to provide networking opportunities for the delegates.
After an open discussion session with Mr Ken Poonoosamy, Managing Director of BOI, the delegation followed a presentation by Mr Zakir Caunhye, Head of MD’s Office, on Mauritius as an investment destination of choice offering investment opportunities in various sectors of the economy.
During their visit to Mauritius, the delegates had the opportunity to meet with Her Excellency, Dr. Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, President of the Republic of Mauritius to discuss on synergies to be developed between our two countries to further enhance international cooperation between our institutions. Moreover, the KIP Centre organized a Business Forum on the important stakes involved in Brexit with the business community at Eureka House. The event was sponsored by Rogers Capital and Rwenzori consulting. Other activities included a forum hosted by Open University of Mauritius which focused on trends in leadership and an event on citizen engagement at the University of Mauritius. Furthermore, the delegation had a series of one-to-one meetings with key stakeholders, leading business groups and institutions in Mauritius.
It should be highlighted that the Harvard Alumni Group combines touring with learning and sharing. The trips organized include meetings with opinion leaders, business leaders and provide a platform for accomplished and successful individuals to share their knowledge. Over the past, the group has visited countries and cities including Belgium, Indonesia, Dubrovnik, Montenegro, Boston, Washington, San Francisco, Singapore amongst others.
