Technical Services

The main scientific institutions of Mauritius offer the following technical services:

The Hydrographic Unit of the Ministry of Housing and Lands (MHL)

The Hydrographic Unit of the MHL has the necessary equipment and technical knowhow for carrying out hydrographic measurements and contract surveys in our EEZ.

The Mauritius Oceanography Institute (MOI)

The MOI can undertake bathymetric surveys, monitor services in the EEZ, carry out Research & Development, provide technical services in aquaculture, perform ocean climatology and analysis of sea water, share database on Mauritian marine organisms, provide satellite oceanography data, handle GIS applications and has established the boundary of Extended Legal Continental Shelf (ECS).

The Mauritius Research Council (MRC)

The main mandate of the MRC is to promote and co-ordinate national investment in research.

The University of Mauritius (UoM)

The UoM carries out formal and non-formal, award and non-award training, conducts research, offers consultancy services, carries out analytical work, organises national and international scientific events, and carries out outreach activities.

The ANDI Centre of Excellence for Biomedical and Biomaterials Research (CBBR)

The CBBR conducts research on local onshore and offshore resources for the biomedical/pharmaceutical field.
