Starting a business

The incorporation of companies and registration of business activities fall under the provisions of the Companies Act 2001 and the  Business Registration Act 2002. All business activities set up in Mauritius should be registered with the Registrar of Companies.

Each business structure varies in terms of category, nature, and type of company. It is thus important to understand the various business structures and choose the most suitable for your business. Please refer to the document on factors to consider when incorporating a company in Mauritius.

A company incorporated in Mauritius can be 100% foreign owned with no minimum capital.

If you are an individual who would like to start a business as a self-employed, you will need to register your business activity only.

Incorporation of a global business company is done through a management company. Please visit of the Financial Services Commission.
