Background

Over the last two years, Mauritius has embraced bold economic reforms that have made it among the most open, competitive and lowest tax economies in the world. The New Mauritius is constantly transforming ideas into new business opportunities for attracting higher value added activities that offers best growth potential.

Today Mauritius is emerging as a strategic platform for global services for international players. In this context the Government of Mauritius, through the Board of Investment and the Commonwealth Secretariat is organizing a series of symposia focusing on enhancing value addition in the export of services.   

Four key service sectors have been identified by the Government as priorities for global export, namely:

·          Financial Services

·          ICT and BPO

·          Healthcare Services and Life Sciences

·          HR Development Services

The Financial Services and ICT/BPO symposia were held sequentially at the end of January 2008 at the Hilton Resort and Spa, Mauritius. International leaders such as Nimesh Kampani, Chairman of National Committee on Capital Markets, India, and Keith Downer, Senior Vice President City Group Global Wealth Management, played a key role in stimulating discussions on the future export capabilities of the Mauritius financial services sector. Likewise, Professor Romer, Senior Fellow, Standford University, US, Mr. Raman Roy, Chairman of Quattro, India, and Mr. Kanwal Reiki, Founding Member, Inventus Capital Partners, US, were among some of the international panelists contributing to the export of ICT/BPO services symposium.

The Government of Mauritius, through the Board of Investment, and in collaboration with the Commonwealth Secretariat , is pleased to announce the holding of the Healthcare Services and Life Sciences symposium and the HR Development Services symposium during April 2008 in Mauritius.

Healthcare Services and Life Sciences Symposium

The Healthcare Services and Life Sciences symposium will be held from 9th to 10th April 2008 at the Le Meridien Hotel, Pointe aux Piments.

The HR Development Services symposium will be held from the 14th to 15th of April 2008 at the Le Meridien Hotel, Pointe aux Piments.

These events aim at creating a unique opportunity for the exchange of views amongst international leaders by bringing together a selected number of forward-thinking international experts in facilitated group discussion.
